I am proud to have a print in "Vanishing Ice", the show at Whatcom Museum Lightcatcher about how climate change is affecting the glaciers on our planet. Vanishing Ice is an excellent collection of current and historic international art focused on ice in polar and mountain regions. Showing my work in the same setting as Ansel Adams and Sir Earnest Shackleton is a great honor and thrill for me. My print is of the Coleman -  Roosevelt glaciers on Mt. Baker in the North Cascades of Washington, shown side by side with an image by another one of my heros, Elliot Porter who created an image from nearly the same place 40 years earlier. There is a third image from 1913 from the same area. In this group of photos the visible recession in the glacier is very dramatic. A nice catalog is available from the gift shop where some of my glacier images are available as prints.

This is turning out to be another very snowy winter at Mt. Baker.

The ski area saw another 100" of new snow about a week before new years.

Let's see if Mt. Baker can break it's own previous record of 1440". 

Once this settles it should be great winter conditions.

Denise, Luna and I enjoyed a wonderful star lit night this week.

Wildflowers are still blooming but fall is in the air. It is an unusual year with the late

snow melt but it's going fast. The colors of autumn are starting to glow.

It's prime time to be in the high country.

Bay to Baker, September 2012 

Bay to Baker is a photographic journey from Bellingham Bay to the summit of

Mt. Baker showcasing the images of Brett Baunton. The goal is to celebrate

the splendor of the Mt. Baker region with fresh, local, organic images.

This collection will be added to as more archive images become available.

Brett created images of Mt. Baker for 30 years. Brett and Denise have walked

nearly every trail and climbed up to the crater and summit a few times.
